Chinese Ground Chicken Bowls Recipe


-400g chicken mince

-150g mushrooms, chopped

-4 tbsp soy sauce

-2 tbsp of rice wine or dry white wine

-2 tsp honey

-1/4 tsp Chinese five spice

-1/4 tsp salt

-1 tsp minced garlic

-1 tsp minced ginger

-1 cup of water

-boiled rice & veggies to serve

-2 x fried eggs to serve

-shallots and sesame seeds to serve (optional)


  1. Mix together soy sauce, wine, honey, Chinese five spice and salt. Set aside.
  2. Heat a small amount of olive oil in a frypan. Add garlic and ginger and cook for a few minutes.
  3. Add the mince and cook until just brown. Add the mushrooms to the pan and stir for 2 minutes.
  4. Next add the sauce you mixed and set aside earlier. Add the cup of water also.
  5. Mix well and then cover the pan. Leave to simmer on low heat for around 30 minutes or until most of the liquid is evaporated.
  6. Serve with rice, veggies and top with a boiled egg. Sprinkle with shallots and sesame seeds if desired. Enjoy!
